SINGI- ER, SWIMMIN' IN THE RAIN...

Add cycling, running, free lollies and complete exhaustion, and you'll have a pretty good idea of what Huntingtower's Year 9 triathlon was like. Well, almost.

Held on Thursday, 24th of March, students, staff and helpers left school excited. The swimming part of the triathlon was held at Oakleigh pool, then a transition to riding on a nearby oval and finally running on a path around the oval. Students were permitted to choose from different distance options depending on their confidence in their abilities and will to challenge themselves. Groups with less distance to cover started first, and groups with more distance started later.

Some triathletes took half an hour to complete the whole triathlon, while others finished in an hour. The overall winner of the triathlon was Noah Deubel, who had chosen the furthest distances (800m of swimming, 8km of riding and a 2.8km run), finishing with an amazing time of 40 minutes and 40 seconds. Hannah Grimm, the overall winner for the girls finished just 8 minutes after Noah, having done the same distances.

After the exciting event was over, the Year 9s, staff and Year 10 helpers rode back in the pouring rain, exhausted. Well done to everyone!
